Santa Rosa Children's Hospital Foundation
The Santa Rosa Children's Hospital Foundation was founded in 1955 by a group of prominent San Antonio community leaders interested in building a Children’s Hospital in San Antonio. Once their fund-raising goal was met, the Children’s Foundation presented their contributions to Santa Rosa to construct the Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital which opened in 1959. Since then, the Santa Rosa Children's Hospital Foundation has pledged itself to continue to raise charitable contributions to support the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital and its vital child health programs.
An independent community-based board of directors governs the Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital Foundation. It consists of 74 active members, 11 life members, 33 honorary members and 10 ex-officio members from San Antonio and South Texas. The Children’s Foundation board meets nine times annually. Each of its meetings features an educational presentation led by physicians and hospital staff who discuss the notable and exceptional pediatric programs within the Children’s Hospital. Armed with this information, the foundation board is better able to advocate on the hospital’s behalf within the philanthropic and public policy communities. The foundation is responsible for the management of specific donor-restricted charitable funds as well as the foundation endowments.
