Children’s Sleep Center
Restful sleep is an important aspect of a child’s health and wellness. Sleep problems are very common in children. Approximately 25 percent of all children have sleep apnea, narcolepsy, insomnia, periodic limb movements, and bedtime problems which can vary in severity and cause potential lifetime consequences. The Children’s Sleep Center is committed to helping children with sleep related problems achieve optimum health.
CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital and UTHSCSA’s Division of Pediatric Pulmonology now offer unprecedented diagnostic and treatment possibilities for children in South Texas with sleep disorders. The new, state of the art, Children’s Sleep Center opened in 2007, as the only sleep center dedicated exclusively to the care of children in San Antonio. Our center offers overnight sleep testing and multiple sleep latency testing to children of all ages. Dr. Karen Hentschel-Franks serves as medical director of the Children’s Sleep Center.
Children who may require sleep studies are screened and evaluated in the David Christopher Goldsbury Center for Children and Families, located at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital. For more information or to refer a patient please call 210.704.4505.
